Genesis 1:27-28

So God created human beings, making them to be like himself. He created them male and female, blessed them, and said, “Have many children, so that your descendants will live all over the earth and bring it under their control. I am putting you in charge of the fish, the birds, and all the wild animals.”

The creation story tells us that God made everything for us to enjoy.

  • What is your favourite animal or bird?
  • What is your favourite fruit or vegetable?

God created time, land, seasons, light, landscapes, plants and living creatures.

  • Of all the things God made, what was his favourite?

Once God had made people he said this is “very good."

  • How does it make you feel to know that you are so special to God and he loves you?

  • What do you think it means that God made us in his image to be like Him? Genesis 1 v.27

    (Move the conversation away from talking about physical characteristics. It’s more about character and values.)

God made us with amazing skills and talents to fulfil a great purpose.

  • What are you really good at doing?
  • How can you use your abilities in a way that pleases God?

God told Adam and Eve to care for the world that he had made for them.

  • How can we do this? Genesis 1 v.28

Dear God,

Thank you that you love us and you made this wonderful world for us to enjoy. Help us to be like you. Help us to use our abilities to care for our world.

Amen
